About
I received my undergraduate degree in teaching from the University of Cincinnati, Looking back I guess teaching was in my life in one facet or another.
Timing is everything is it not? I entered the teaching profession when the profession had too many teachers. Yes, I know I am dating myself. So I went into the business world with a focus on Marketing. After many years as a Marketing Director in various sized companies I became a business coach.
Being a business coach is not easy but I must say it was the most satisfying work I have ever done. I found entrepreneurs are the eternal optimists. They also were full of energy and many are very creative. I helped many businesses in achieving their goals.
I do love entrepreneurs!

John,
Thanks so much for your input. I just read where Obama is working on how to loosen up the loans to start-ups. That would be so helpful to these start-ups and ultimately to this country.
Congrats on your new blog. I have had one for a couple of years and I started a second one two weeks ago.
I will add you to my RSS reader.
I cannot imagine having two blogs! That is great. I will have to follow your blog . It can be challenging learning new things but I find this fun.

Entrepreneurs are special people. They possess unique traits. I worked fro a consummate entrepreneur for 16 years. The traits he possessed were:
1. Ability to assess risk and to assume measured risks.
2. Decisiveness- willingness to decide, commit to the decision and assume the attendant risks.
3. Assertiveness- ability to lead and get others to follow. Also ability to clearly articulate the mission and to hold people accountable.
4. Energy- he had the ability to juggle many balls and different disciplines at the same time, yet he was a finisher…brought things to successful conclusions.
5. Ability to question and learn new information very quickly and then act on it.
6. He was willing to risk his own money on the business. He had a gambler’s bent but generally kept the odds in his favor.
In my opinion, these are traits that are some corporate executives may share but the combination makes the entrepreneur unique.
Dick,
Of all the traits you listed the one I find that is so true is the energy. I am amazed at the energy entrepreneurs have. Frankly the ones that succeed often have boundless amounts of energy. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the thoughts.
